8. Why does a typhoon have an eye?

The eye of a typhoon is formed when the tropical cyclone rotates counterclockwise and drags along the central air that rotates and creates a centrifugal force counteracting the force from the inflow wind. When a balance is reached, no more wind is able to get inside the central area which is about tens of kilometers in range. This is an area with light winds, few clouds and rain due to rising temperature caused by air sinking phenomenon. (See Fig 2)
