30. What is contained in CWA-issued typhoon warning?

The CWA-issued typhoon warning report (see example in Fig. 9) contains the following information:

  1. Typhoon number and report sequence number: indicating the typhoon number of current typhoon warning report and the sequence number of this report.
  2. Report issuing time: the issuing time of current typhoon warning report.
  3. Typhoon intensity and name: the intensity and international name with a Chinese translation of the typhoon name.
  4. Central pressure: the lowest air pressure at the typhoon center.
  5. Location of typhoon center: expressed in latitude and longitude, including the distance from a specific Taiwan spot for reference purposes.
  6. Storm radius: The distance from the typhoon center to where the average wind speed drops to 14 m/s (for wind of category 7) and 25 m/s (for wind of category 10).
  7. Forecast speed and direction: expressed in kilometers per hour and 16-point directions.
  8. Near-center maximum wind speed: Average wind speed taken for 10 minutes, expressed in meters per second (kilometers per hour) and corresponding wind category.
  9. Instantaneous maximum gust speed: instantaneous peak wind speed, expressed in meters per second (kilometers per hour) and corresponding wind category.
  10. Forecast location: the forecast location of the typhoon center 24 hours later, expressed in latitude and longitude.
  11. Typhoon's trend: analyzing the typhoon movement and forecasting its changes.
  12. Guarded regions and issues: describing the regions to be guarded and issues to be on alert for.
  13. Issues to notice: optional, for reminding people of issues to be noticed.
  14. Next warning issuance time as planned.
  15. Guarded region and schematic diagram for typhoon movement.
  16. Map for forecast of typhoon's potential path (see Appendix I for reference).
