33. How are typhoon warning messages disseminated?

After a typhoon warning has been issued, the Central Weather Administration disseminates the typhoon warning report to all relevant units, government department commissioners and mass media immediately via automated faxing service, emails and other channels. The up-to-date typhoon information and precautions advised are also released to the public through voice messaging weather service lines "166" (in Mandarin) and "167" (in Taiwanese, Hakka and English), and the SSB broadcasting channel. The latest typhoon information can also be obtained through the fax voice response system (FOD: 020303166), the Central Weather Administration website (http://www.cwa.gov.tw), Facebook fan pages and “Taiwan Weather” APP. The peer-to-peer weather and disaster prevention information service system also provides central authorities and county government disaster prevention and responding units with the latest typhoon warning information. In addition, the Central Weather Administration holds regular press conferences during typhoon warning period so that the public has access to the latest information on the typhoon via TV, radio, internet or newspapers. Fig. 11 shows how the typhoon warning information is disseminated, while the typhoon warning reporting system is shown in Fig. 12.
